We live in a world now where girl power and strength is encouraged and celebrated. Women and men are created equal, and one should not have more opportunities then the other. Personally I think this is good, but can be a little overbearing at times. Even though I want to raise my daughter to be a strong and independent individual, I also want to implement and encourage the moral and social code of a true gentlemen for my son.
For the last couple of days it seems that I have been M.I.A., but I honestly just needed time to unplug. Since the kids were on Thanksgiving break, I too needed to take a break from social media and electronics and spend time with them and family. Between Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and getting the house Christmas ready, I am exhausted!
Okay, big confession. I have to literally remind and force myself to drink more water everyday. This is a huge struggle and has been for many years. I feel like as you get older, having kids, managing a household, job, and being a mom you forget the little things like drinking water. You have so much on your plate, so many other things to remember, that something as simple as drinking water seems like another task on your to-do list. I know this sounds silly, but it’s so true (at least for me). Especially with water being so blah and non-exciting, it’s easy to forget. On the flip side, I will easily remember my coffee every morning and a glass a wine on the weekends. Funny how that is!
Did you know that you can use Amazons Baby or Wedding registry to create a Christmas registry for your kids or yourself? Me either, until now. I have a big family, and the number one question (just like many other moms) I always get around this time is: What does Christian and Gracie want for Christmas? I try to tell my family members different things so they don’t end up getting repeat gifts, and it becomes more challenging each year as the family grows.
It’s starting to look a lot like Thanksgiving over here & I am loving it! We’ve been busy lately with football games, festivals, and birthdays. Every weekend seems to be booked from Friday to Sunday with no room to sit down and relax! On a good note, my truck is finally in the shop getting fixed and they gave me a rental in the meantime. But, not just any rental.. a 2017 Audi Q5 Quattro and I am in love. Let’s just say I have been putting some miles on it!
Recently I celebrated my 30th birthday. All year I knew the time was coming, but of course no matter how hard I tried, I was not prepared. I guess I hoped that time would stop, or that the government would create a time machine where you would spend your life savings to use. You name it, I prayed for it! But guess what, none of that happened. My birthday still came and went, and I am no longer in my twenties.

I hope you took my advice and made yourself a cup of coffee, because this is your Saturday morning read! I needed a space within my blog to be random, talk about everything that is going on lately, and what I am currently swooning over.
I have been blogging for almost 2 months now, and I am loving it so far. Meeting new, supportive people is my favorite part. I admit that I was afraid to get started. Getting involved with a blog is very intimidating, especially when they’re so many talented women out there. But guys, I realized this is a positive thing! Where can you find a place where you can literally lay out your flaws, your thoughts, your struggles and receive positive, helpful reinforcement? I am one blessed girl, and so happy that I took the plunge!
Halloween is right around the corner, so I figured it’s only fitting to share some of our Halloween costumes through the years. I love the fact that Christian & Gracie find joy in complimenting each other for Halloween. They seem to always agree (except for this year, I’ll get to that later) on costume ideas. It has became a Dortch tradition to dress up as a family!
side note: PLEASE try to disregard the poor quality of these images, I was not as good before.
